Smoothie bowls always remind me of the summer. They are so cooling and refreshing – truly the perfect snack or meal on a hot, sunny day. They’re incredibly versatile and can be topped with anything you please! This simple açaí smoothie bowl is gluten free, dairy free, and vegan. All you need to make the beautiful, fuchsia-colored base of the smoothie is açaí, protein powder, and a dairy free milk of choice.

I used dairy free almond milk here. If you’re looking for a dairy free recommendation, Elmhurst 1925 makes amazing nut and oat milks. The only ingredients they use are water and nuts/oats – no added sugars, gums, fillers, and the like. For those with a sensitive gut, this is important! This isn’t sponsored – I just love the brand. If you prefer regular milk, you can absolutely use it instead!
As for the protein, I used a delicious vanilla coconut protein powder. This is the exact one in my smoothie bowl. It provides a nice subtle flavor that tastes great when blended with the açaí. Delicious! I added two scoops. Adding protein powder to smoothies is an easy hack that will keep you full for much longer than just fruit itself.
I added the açaí, protein powder, and about 1 cup of nondairy milk to my blender and pulsed on high for about fifteen seconds. The result was creamy, thick, and delicious! I then poured the smoothie into a bowl and began to add on toppings.
The toppings of this simple açaí smoothie bowl are the best. This is where you can really get creative and add on anything you’re craving. I decided to add a handful of frozen berries as well as chia and hemp seeds. I also drizzled in one tablespoon of almond butter from Trader Joe’s. Coconut flakes would also work well here! My friend Caroline suggested adding on bee pollen, too. Let me know if you have any topping combinations that worked well on this smoothie bowl!
Simple Açaí Smoothie Bowl

Ingredients
- 1 packet frozen acai
- 2 tbsp protein powder of choice
- 1 cup nondairy milk
- toppings I used chia seeds, hemp seeds, frozen berries, and almond butter
Instructions
- Add the acai, protein powder, and nondairy milk to a blender.
- Pulse on high until desired consistency is achieved.
- Pour into a bowl, add toppings, and enjoy!
