This is the easiest gluten free taco salad that you can whip up for a quick lunch or dinner. I think this meal is perfect for when you are crunched for time but want to eat something healthy and tasty.
I usually like to make my own gluten free sauces, dressings, marinades. It’s fun to experiment with different herbs, oils, and spices to do so. Yet, given how busy I was when I made this meal, I actually used a pre-made sauce from Frontera (not sponsored). It packs in a lot of flavor and makes for a delicious, simple gluten free taco salad.
The particular sauce I used was the Frontera Chicken Taco Skillet Sauce. I found it at my local supermarket when searching for gluten free taco seasoning and decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised!
If you have more time on your hands, feel free to experiment with spices and ingredients to create your own delicious taco sauce. Try mixing diced tomatoes, cumin, paprika, jalapeño, and cilantro – so tasty and fresh.
The recipe I used to make this salad is below, but feel free to get creative when you’re trying it. I topped my gluten free taco salad with a few pieces of sautéed kale and hemp seeds. Add whatever you’re craving, or in my case, whatever leftovers you need to get rid of 😉 Haha! I think peppers, onions, cabbage, pineapple, cilantro, and pomegranate seeds would also be amazing toppings.
Another thing to note is that I used a chicken taco skillet sauce on ground turkey and it tasted great regardless. I think cooking shrimp or tempeh in the sauce would also be delicious.
I did not use an entire package of ground turkey to cook this, as I was only cooking the recipe for myself. If you are entertaining a larger group, adjust the recipe accordingly! Feel free to send me a message or write me a comment below if you have any questions.
Easy Gluten Free Taco Salad
Ingredients
- 1 packet Frontera Chicken Taco Skillet sauce
- 2 handfuls greens of choice (I used spinach)
- organic ground turkey ** Buy the portion of ground turkey that best suits the number of people you are cooking for. I purchased the smallest size available at my supermarket because I was cooking just for me.
- optional: red pepper flakes, jalapeños, lime juice, and other toppings of choice!
Instructions
- Add the ground turkey to a pan and cook on low to medium heat for 5-7 minutes. As the turkey begins to brown, add the sauce.
- Stir the sauce and the turkey until any excess sauce in the pan has evaporated.
- Add the turkey to a bed of greens. Top with any desired spices/veggies!
