This gluten free oatmeal bowl is easy to make, filling, and delicious. I love eating oatmeal in the winter when it’s cold outside, because it is so warming and cozy.
This recipe is the perfect healthy breakfast meal for chilly days. Oatmeal is the best plain base for any bowl. You can easily add a lot of delicious toppings without competing with the natural savory flavor of the oatmeal.
I have no symptoms when I eat oats because I make sure they are gluten free. While regular oats are naturally gluten free, many celiacs have issues digesting them. If you have celiac disease or a gluten intolerance, please exercise caution when eating oats as they are a cross-reactive grain.
I’ve linked a good article here that explains more about cross-reactivity as well as certain foods and ingredients to watch out for.
A brand of oats that I really like is called One Degree and it can be purchased at Whole Foods. The oats are certified gluten free and they taste great. This is the exact product that I usually purchase. There are many servings, so the bag lasts me a while. You can also use these oats to create cookies or breakfast bars!
Gluten free oats are a great plain base for any oatmeal bowl. Cooking the oats in a tiny bit of coconut milk or vanilla almond milk gives the oats a nice, subtle flavor. If you prefer a plain gluten free oatmeal bowl, you can then get creative with the toppings.
I love putting frozen fruit on top of oatmeal because the combo of cozy oats + refreshing fruit tastes so good. The fruit juices also blend in the oatmeal, giving it a nice sweet flavor (without needing any artificial sweetener). Give it a try if you haven’t before!
